Martin, JB 1-key

Instrument: 1-key D flute in boxwood with horn rings and a brass key

Maker: Jean Baptiste Martin (1794-1876) La Couture, France

Pitch: A=425-435 - plays best around A=430

Embouchure size:

Restorer: Matt Slausen

Notes: I very interesting early Martin flute. We often see flute from Martin Freres but this is a different company. The flute is warped but plays quite well. It has some tuning irregularities but is a very nice instrument. The style of the key seems to date it around 1835 in contrast to the rest of the flute, which seems earlier.
