Instrument: 4-key flute in D, boxwood with ivory rings and silver keys, original wooden case. c. 1812
Maker: Goulding & Co. / New-Bond St. / London - Goulding & Co was the first of the many company names used by Goulding. Langwill doesn’t list this mark exactly. The keys are also stamps with a crown, The company is listed as being on New BondStreet 1811-1812
Pitch: A=440
Sounding Length: 532mm
Total Length: 608mm
Embouchure size: (small, fairly round)
Notes: This is a very good playing flute in nice condition. The bottom D is quite low in pitch and the mount of the F key is broken, not affecting playing.. Otherwise the flute is quite well in tune and has an excellent sound. I suspect the endcap is not original to the flute.
