F. Von Huene, Chevalier copy in Grenadilla with ivory ornaments and a silver key
Pitch: 440
Notes: This is one of my favorite visual designs for a baroque flute. The original is in the Boston Museum collection. This is a very unusual flute as one doesn’t find copies of these early flutes at A440. We would usually expect them to be at A=392/400 but when von Huene designed this flute no one was playing at 392 and there was demand for early flutes at that pitch. It is beautifully made and has an excellent, well voiced embouchure so it plays very well. The ivory is pre-embargo.
